The Culture Stewardship System™: A Six-Phase Framework

Surface the values already alive in your organization through the Core Values Assessment™ , a structured process built around what you've actually done, not what sounds good in a mission statement.

Reinforce

Sustain the work through a 13-week email campaign and a Supervisor Monthly Values Guide that supervisors actually reference, not a slide deck filed away after training.

Lead & Recognize

Deepen how supervisors model values day to day and build a sustained recognition culture, giving staff an ongoing, values-anchored way to appreciate one another's work.

Case Study: Faith-Based Nonprofit Organization

The Situation

The organization had cultivated a strong culture rooted in shared commitment, mission alignment, and deep relational trust. As it grew, however, leadership recognized the need to formally define and document the values that had guided the organization from the beginning.

Without a shared values framework, departments increasingly relied on individual interpretations of organizational expectations, creating inconsistencies in decision-making, leadership alignment, and accountability. The opportunity was not to create a new culture, but to clarify, define, and operationalize the culture already in place.

the methodology

Kingdom Governance initiated the engagement with the Core Values Assessment™, a structured discovery methodology designed to identify the values already demonstrated through organizational behaviors, leadership decisions, and operating practices. Rather than relying solely on stated beliefs or leadership perceptions, the assessment examined real organizational experiences, including moments of excellence, non-negotiable principles, and responses to challenges, to uncover the values actively shaping the organization's culture.

The assessment findings informed implementation of the Culture Stewardship System™, Kingdom Governance's six-phase framework for translating organizational values into sustainable leadership practices: Discover, Train, Commit, Reinforce, Lead, and Recognize. Each phase produced practical tools, leadership practices, and operational resources designed to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows and strengthen the organization's ability to sustain its culture over time.

Rather than introducing a new culture, the engagement equipped leadership with a structured framework to clarify, reinforce, and operationalize the values already defining the organization.

The Results

Implementation of the Culture Stewardship System™ established a scalable framework for embedding organizational values into leadership practices, accountability, and decision-making. By creating a shared standard for how values were interpreted and applied, Kingdom Governance strengthened leadership alignment, increased accountability, and established greater consistency across departments. To support long-term adoption, Kingdom Governance conducted culture assessments, delivered organization-wide culture awareness training, and developed a comprehensive 12-month Culture Sustainment Strategy. Together, these initiatives moved the organization's values beyond aspiration and into daily operations through practical leadership behaviors, communication practices, and accountability systems. The engagement positioned the organization for continued growth by ensuring its culture, leadership practices, and governance structures were established before expansion, providing a sustainable foundation for future ministry impact.

Current Implementation Phase

The organization is currently advancing through the Reinforce phase of the Culture Stewardship System™, where values are intentionally integrated into daily operations through structured communication and recognition practices. Kingdom Governance partnered with leadership to implement organization-wide communication strategies and recognition tools that reinforce desired behaviors, strengthen cultural alignment, and create consistent accountability across the organization. The remaining implementation phases, Lead and Recognize, are focused on equipping leaders to model organizational values consistently, coach through a values-based leadership framework, and sustain a culture of accountability and recognition long after the engagement concludes.
